This has to be by far the number one reason why nobody. This is great, but it also means that by late-game, nuclear simply is not viable by comparison. Late-game, solar has a negligible UPS cost for its size. What else makes solar energy so powerful? Updates per second. So, it's not likely that nerfing solar would be a good solution. Yes, this is an acceptable break from reality since it's a video game, and not many people in Factorio find true joy in slaving away at placing hundreds of thousands of solar panels down by hand. Solar produces massive amounts of energy per tile to the point where you have to suspend your disbelief to use it. Solar power is a strange beast, and it's a bit broken all on its own. Because I'm sure we all want to actually have fun with nuclear power. I'd like to first establish the main reasons for solar being better, why nuclear is not sustainable, and then give my proposals as to what might allow nuclear to compete mid- to late-game. This translates to 144 u238 per hour of playing, or 14.4k u238 per 100 hours of play time. So, we hear it all the time: "Solar power is waaaay better than nuclear." Why is that so? Nuclear power is simply not properly balanced in its current form. You can keep up with this rate with just a handful of centrifuges making u235/238. A 1GW "unregulated" setup uses 8 u238 every 200 sec, meaning one every 25 sec.
#Factorio nuclear reactor Patch#
In stage three, even a small uranium patch will yield enough nuclear fuel that you can run a 1GW (8 reactor) setup for HUNDREDS of hours. A bunch of extra u238 should now be going into your logistics network or into storage chests. Your enrichment has enough u238 to run indefinitely as long as you keep feeding it u235. After a few minutes (ok maybe an hour or two, tops) at level 2, you've reached practically infinite nuclear reserves. Here you can't do nuclear power yet, you're saving your u-238 for making more u-238. You have no uranium - Here you can't really do anything with a nuclear reactor, so it's an N/A.Nuclear-fuel wise, there are three points in the game: Removing the steam tanks will reduce all the calculations required to model the steam in those tanks. You really shouldn't, your UPS will thank you. What's the point of regulating the inputs at all, I say? There seems to be an obsession with regulating or controlling a nuclear reactor. Look both ways before you cross the tracks. The only significance is life, which leads to the further wisdom. Every assembler is but a visitor to where it resides. Let your anxiety wash away as you perceive that every belt placed can be moved. Most games punish you for building, demolishing and rebuilding. Your mistakes have no cost but time, and the deconstruction planner even reduces that cost. Submit bug reports on the official forum.īlueprint Bot - Will render blueprints for you!
